Privacy policy
This policy explains, in plain terms, what information Julian Giraldo ("we", "us", or "the company") collects when you use julian-giraldo.com (the "Site"), why we collect it, and what say you have over it. We ship to and serve customers in the United States only, so this policy is written for that market.
We take the same plain, no-nonsense approach to your data that we take to everything else: collect only what we genuinely need, keep it no longer than we have to, and never sell it on. The sections below set out exactly how that works.
The information we collect
Two kinds of information come to us, one you hand over and one that is gathered quietly in the background as the Site runs:
- Information you give us directly. When you place an order, create an account, or sign up to hear from us, you may share things like your name, your billing and delivery addresses, your email address, your payment card details, and the details of what you have ordered
- Information collected automatically. As you browse, our systems log a handful of technical details on their own: the IP address of your device, the browser and operating system you are on, the pages you open, the path you take through the Site, and the dates and times you visit
- Cookies and similar tools. Small files are saved to your device to handle things like holding the contents of your basket, measuring how the Site is performing, and showing you advertising that is more likely to be relevant. There is more on these further down
Why we collect it
The information above is put to work in a few specific ways:
- Processing your orders, taking payment, and arranging delivery
- Answering your questions, return requests, and any other message you send us
- Personalising your visit and sharpening the product recommendations you see
- Spotting and shutting down fraud or misuse of the Site
- Meeting the obligations placed on us by tax, consumer, and other applicable laws
We do not use your information for anything beyond what is set out here without letting you know first.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies on the Site fall into a few broad groups:
- Essential cookies, the ones that keep basic features working, such as staying signed in or holding your basket between pages
- Performance cookies, which tell us in aggregate how visitors are using the Site so we can make it better
- Advertising cookies, which we and our partners (Google Ads and Meta among them) use to show marketing that is more likely to suit you
You stay in control of all of this through your browser settings, where cookies can be refused or cleared whenever you like. Turning some of them off may mean parts of the Site stop behaving as they should.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do pass certain details to a small set of partners who handle essential parts of running the Site on our behalf:
- Payment processors, who securely capture your card details and move the funds
- Carriers and delivery partners, who need your address to get your order to you
- Analytics and advertising providers, who help us understand how the Site is used and reach the right people with our campaigns
Every one of these partners is held to using your information only for the job we have brought them in to do, and to handling it in line with the privacy rules that apply to them.
How long we keep it
We hold on to your personal information only for as long as there is a genuine reason to. That might be continuing to serve you, keeping the records that tax and accounting rules require, settling a dispute, or enforcing our terms. Once a reason no longer applies, the information is either deleted or stripped of anything that could identify you.
Your choices and your rights
Depending on the state you live in, some or all of the following rights may be available to you:
- To ask what personal information we hold on you and to receive a copy of it
- To have us correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- To ask us to delete your information, subject to the exceptions the law allows
- To opt out of marketing emails at any point, either through the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly
- To tell us not to sell or share your information, which, since we do not sell it, we already honour by default
To use any of these, reach us with the details at the foot of this page and we will take it from there.
How we keep it safe
We use a mix of technical and organisational measures to guard your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. We take this seriously, but it is only fair to say that no website can promise perfect security, and we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet is ever completely without risk.
Children's privacy
The Site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has shared their information with us, contact us and we will remove it.
Links to other sites
You may now and then find links on our Site that lead to sites run by other companies. Once you follow one, you have left Julian Giraldo, and we have no hand in how those sites handle your information or what they put in front of you. It is worth reading their own privacy notice before you share anything with them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices, our services, or the law change. When we do, the new version goes up on this page with a fresh date at the top. It is worth looking back now and then so you always know where things stand.
If anything here is unclear, just ask. A real person reads every email and will reply within one business day.
